Hurling holds a proud and central place in the sporting life of CBS Thurles. As a school steeped in the traditions of the GAA, which was founded only a short away from the school. We are committed to fostering excellence, sportsmanship, and team spirit among our students both on and off the field. From first year to senior level, our students are given the opportunity to develop their skills and represent the school with pride.
CBS Thurles competes at the highest level in post-primary hurling, regularly participating in prestigious competitions such as the Rice Cup (U14), White Cup (U15), Dean Ryan Cup (U17), and the coveted Harty Cup (U19), one of the most renowned schools’ hurling championships in the country. Our teams are consistently competitive, reflecting the dedication of our players and coaching staff.
In recent years, we have enjoyed significant success across all age groups. Most notably, winning the Harty Cup and All-Ireland in 2025, showcasing the talent and determination of our students. Our junior teams have secured regional titles and maintained a strong presence in local and provincial competitions.
Hurling at CBS Thurles is a strong sport for us, it is a source of identity, pride, and community. We are proud of our tradition, inspired by our past, and ambitious for our future. With a strong coaching structure, excellent facilities, and the full support of our school community, we continue to nurture the next generation of hurlers who will uphold the legacy of excellence that CBS Thurles is known for.
