Rugby

Rugby is a growing tradition at CBS Thurles, offering students an opportunity to develop teamwork, discipline, and resilience both on and off the field. Our rugby programme is inclusive, welcoming players of all abilities, and is supported by dedicated coaching staff who bring experience, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to player development.

We actively compete in a range of schools’ rugby competitions across all age levels. Our teams participate in the Munster Schools Junior and Senior Cup campaigns, the Munster Development Cups, and regional blitzes and leagues. Each year, our players represent CBS Thurles with pride and determination, challenging themselves against some of the top rugby schools in the province.

Recent Successes:

Our Junior side enjoyed a fantastic season, culminating in a memorable victory in the Munster Junior Plate final.
Several of our students have been selected for regional development squads, with a number going on to represent Munster at U18 and U19 levels.

Rugby at CBS Thurles continues to grow, and with strong player interest and school support, we look forward to building on our recent successes and nurturing the next generation of players.
